Class training 2023

Last weekend we organized a training at the sailing club of Ägeri (SCAe). There was a short term change of the coach. Instead of Nikos Droukas, Niklas Kaiser was the coache for the weekend. In total 20 Sailors participated at the class training.

Regional training SSTR5

In total 5 Teams of the region around the lake of Zurich were training on the lake of Garda the last couple of days. For three teams it was their final preparation for the junior Europeans and the world championship, which will start next week. For the other two teams it was their first time sailing in strong wind which was surely a great experience.

Trim Calculator

Dear Sailors,

One of our experienced 420 Class Members, Nik Burkhard, has created a "Trim Calculator" on excel. It is very simple to use, one must simply download the file. Make sure to fine-tune your boat for your next regatta!

Find it in the tab downloads.

(The trims are well tailored, and based on experience and knowledge, however, you must still experiment to find your own perfect trim)

Lebkuchen Regatta & General Assembly cancelled

Since  the Lebkuchen Regatta has been cancelled and especially due to the current situation, the General Assembly on 14^th November 2020 in Oberhofen will not take place.

 

Instead, the Association will organize a virtual meeting on Thursday 26^th November 2020

 

Every member (pre condition is the paid yearly member fee of CHF 40.- to be eligible to vote) will receive an email with a link to the meeting, the agenda and a voting form for the relevant topics in due time.

For those who are also interested in participating the meeting, the link will be published on the website.

General Assembly

Dear 420 Class members,

Please note that our annual General Assembly will take place on Saturday 

14th November 2020 in Oberhofen (Lebkuchen Regatta)

Make sure to attend the general assembly as you may cast your vote, which will contribute to decisions effecting all the 420 sailors in Switzerland.

If you have an idea in mind for any changes regarding the association, please let us know well in advance so that we can plan a proposal for the assembly.

The agenda for the general assembly will be published 3 weeks before the event.

We encourage you to attend the general assembly, even if you can’t participate in the Lebkuchen Regatta!

2020 Class Training

On the weekend of the 15^th/16^th of August a group of 26 sailors gathered to take part in the 420 Class Training in Ägeri. Nikos Drougkas the international coach from RVZS lead the training together with Roman Thurnherr from the SSTR5. Additionally, there were a few top 420 sailors present to support and show some tricks. 

After a round of croissants and chocolate drinks, the sailors split into different groups and manoeuvres were trained step by step on land. Each group had an expert showing them the basics or little tips and tricks depending on the level. As soon as the wind picked up after lunch, the boats were launched. The rest of the day was spent sailing an up and down course to now practice the manoeuvres on the water. Also, the beginner teams had an experienced sailor on their boat to give them additional support. At the end of the day a group photo was taken with everyone wearing their new 420 class t-shirts. 

On the second day, the group was split into the more and less experienced 420 sailors. While the one group was getting their asses kicked by the crazy Greek, the others continued to work on their manoeuvres and some short races to round it off. We finished the day with ice-cream, happy faces and newly gained knowledge.
